"The edge effect is an ecological concept that describes how there is a greater diversity of life in the region where the edges of two adjacent ecosystems overlap". Curving conduits, such as winding rivers, increase the area for biodiversity to exist. Artists similarly explore truth in non-linear ways, creating new pathways by traveling the edges between what is known and unknown.

Sparks conjures the wilds of nature into expressive visual narratives through the shifting spectres of shadow and light. Immersive sculptural and performative works of art engage collective action and inspired participation.

Living and creating in Nuxwa-ha (Nuwhaha) territories, along with Skædʒɪt (Skagit), Xws7ámesh (Samish), Xwlemi (Lummi) and ˈSwɪnəmɪʃ (Swinomish) Nations and other Coast Salish Indigenous people who have continuously gathered, created and celebrated in this area for millennia.
